I am living my dream and couldn't be happier. Yes there are still things i want to accomplish but all in due time. I hope that there are always things i'm working on, looking forward to, planning out, etc.
Right now my focus is my family and I am one lucky girl that i can 100% do that. I have a husband who loves me and supports me and 4 amazing children who call me Mom. They are my pride and joy. They test me, they teach me, they drive me to my limits and they LOVE me immensely. I wouldn't trade my life for the world.
Braden made a gift for me at school and brought it home the Friday before Mother's Day...he had me close my eyes as he took it out of his back pack and ran upstairs. He hid it under his pillow for safe keeping until Sunday. It made me smile to know he was so excited to make and give ME something so special, i must be doing somethings right. Riley also came home and hid her gift.
The morning of Mother's Day, Braden woke me up at 6:20 am to ask if he could put on his new (bought the night before) shin guards...he wanted to sleep in them and we said no...i tried to go back to sleep but couldn't so a little while later i called the kids in and they were excited to FINALLY give me the gifts they made.
Riley painted a flower pot which had her hand prints glued to popsicle sticks and had different things she would help me with "A hand setting the table" "A hand doing the dishes" "A hand mopping" "A hand making dinner" and "A hand --------- It was very sweet and i have got some good use out of them already!
Braden handed me a file folder sealed with a ribbon. Inside were pictures of his sweet little hands in the shape of "I" "L" "O" "V" "E" "U" and a picture of him holding a sign that says "Mom". it was very cute but more so was how happy he was for me to gush over it.
Max didn't miss a beat and plucked down a picture he had made at the library the week prior and was hanging on his wall in his room and gave it to me.
After church Josh made the lunch i requested and then we promptly took a nice Sunday afternoon nap. Then we were off to Josh's parents house for dinner. We got there a bit early and the kids had time to play before dinner started. I was in the kitchen talking when Braden came RUNNING in to tell me Max was hurt. Normally, i'm not too concerned. I'm not the type of parent to sprint out with a worried look on my face- i have four active kids, they have little accidents all the time and is rarely anything major. A kiss and a hug normally does the trick. But as fast as Braden was running i started to run to.. Of course he had cleats on to compliment the shin guards he still hadn't taken off and dirt was FLYING of his shoes behind him as he raced to max. He lead me to the back yard where i saw max sitting in the dirt under the monkey bars/slide toy just crying. As soon as i got to him i saw a good amount of blood on his neck, as i did a fast once over i saw a good sized and deep gash in the back of his head. I scooped him up and thought to my self "staples!". I walked him in and we got an icepack and cloth on his head and off we were to urgent care. He cried some of the way and when asked if he was "ok" he would just say "no" in such a sad voice.
By the time we got to urgent care, he wasn't crying and was quite happy actually. Josh and i teased him that he just wanted me all to himself for Mother's Day. We were the only ones in the waiting room and there happened to be an empty wheel chair, so of course i raced him around the room like a good mom would do!
He was super brave when the nurse had to wash out his cut, he held back tears and just squeezed my hands. They put a numbing gel on it and sent him for xray - the dr said he was pretty sure he wouldn't have a fracture but wanted to be 100%. I like the dr we got, a lot, he is very nice, thorough and really good with Max.
The xrays came back clean and the dr came in to close the wound. Josh held max's head steady and i held his hands. He got about 6 injections in and around his gash of lidocain and was WAY more brave then i would've been. He didn't squirm one bit or try to run away or tell us no. He just sat still, tears streaming and whimpering! so sad. After the injections the first staple didn't take so that was taken out and 4 more were done.
As soon as the nurse walked in with a "lollipop for each hand" and some stickers Max was good to go. As soon as we got back to josh's parents house he was right back on scooters and running around like crazy. Josh was stressed out the rest of the night keeping max to a semi decent speed for a new owner of head staples.
Crazy ending to a good day but it didn't get me down. I love my children with all my heart and am constantly striving to fix my imperfections because i believe they deserve better. I am grateful for the love they show me each day and am so comforted in the fact that we are sealed together. We will be a family for ever. i couldn't ask for anything better.
