July

July was no exception to the fun we had been having this summer...although i normally remain strong and unwavering in my energy to soak up every last sun ray, i was feeling my four kids or my age just about reaching 30, or a combination of the two...i finished out july, just barely before staying indoors at home all day started to appeal to me.

We spent the 4th of july at my inlaws house swimming and bbq'ing

Braden is completely floaty free this summer and prefers it that way.  He also mastered the art of "swimming in the deep end" which makes pool time so much more fun for him!
Max LOVES swimming and decided he wanted me to teach him how to swim without floaties! by august of this year he was able to swim from the steps to the other side without help.  He is working on learning how to raise his head for and actually take a break without assistance! He is definitely our youngest swimmer and is doing so good. Reese isn't far behind. She definitely prefers to NOT use her floaties.  She jumps off the steps to you whether you are ready or not and swims with her eyes open, doing her best to do "big arms".  She kicks and kicks and often freezes in a pose under water.  She patiently waits for you to pluck her up for air!  I'm guessing she will follow in max's footsteps and be an early swimmer, maybe next summer even?!

The following are some random july shots
Braden entered this "camping/hiking" phase where all he would talk about is going either hiking or camping and searching for gold and using his walkie talkies....his call name is "fire ball"
Funny story about max's buzz cut.  Both the boy's hair was getting so long and josh hadn't had time to trim it so i figured i would just buzz it.  Braden said NO WAY and max was all up for it.  About two hours after i did it, i found him crying.  He kept saying how ugly he looked :( i assured him it was so cute and that it would grow back.  He was disappointed each morning he woke up and it was still short!
We had fun at the splash pad in corona one day

Uncle Daniel left for his mission in the Dominican Republic this month! Riley cried for about two days...he left behind one of his favorite tees for riley to wear to bed and that helps.
Grancy took riley braden and max each for an over night trip and an activity of their choosing.  First up was riley.  They spent time shopping and decorating the fairy garden.
When it was bradens turn he wanted to go to toys R us.  He had never heard of that store and was fascinated at the concept of a giant store full of toys!
All max wanted to do with his turn was take a bath in her bath tun and dig for worms :)
We finally got a icee this summer!
Max is still very into bugs and caught this japanese beetle and chased everyone around the play ground with it.
Jr University

Riley learned how to dive this summer!
Max found and held a HUGE butterfly
I took reese for a walk one day and she walked her baby...she blabbed the whole time about who knows what but it was so cute!
Our friend hosted an amazing pioneer day at her house!
Her mom gave an animated history of the pioneers, the games they played, how they lived and why.
Here are the boys trying out some of the games
Reese and max loved washing with the wash board
Water melon eating contest
They also had candle making, cloth doll making, scones and they got to make their own butter!
We had a few storms pass through this summer and we made sure to play in each of them once the lightening was gone
Sleep over birthday for nathan with the boy cousins
Reese loves her babies!
Watching an early morning storm
Me, josh and the kids went to visit carrie and bradly and we took a walk to my old house! i loved showing the kids and josh the street i grew up on.
Carrie and i walked to our old elementary school and took a picture in front of phills house, we waited in that spot many a day when we were young, waiting for him to get home so we could all hang out!
katie, shelley and i decided to try Yucaipa Regional Park's Lagoon this summer instead of a trip to the bay.  It's only 15 min away and pretty cheap to get in.  It was amazing and we were kicking ourselves for not trying it sooner!
It features a concrete pool, shallow around the edges and around 6 feet in the middle, sand all around, grassy areas and bathrooms close by woohoo!

The kids loved the free life jacket rentals so they could just float all around

I call shelley the baby whisperer.  they all love and flock to her!

Some facts from this month:

Max has started a new phase of telling lies.  it's really frustrating and we are working on getting him to stop.
but on a cuter note he learned how to draw people, and he likes to draw a "family".

Reese is pretty mean to josh this month.  she constantly tells him "no!" and will hardly ever give him a kiss. He hates it but (spoiler alert!) she falls in love with him hard in September!

Reese LOVES feeling hair still, she whines for my hair at night time like a baby would want a pacifier or special blanket. She gets mad when it's in a bun and demands i put it down when i'm rocking her before nap or bed so she can feel it.

We aren't 100% but thinking reese is most likely left handed.

Reese calls poop, "Pee-poo"

Max got on a "puppy" kick.  He talks about wanting one all. the. time! We even told him he would have to pick up the poop with a shovel so he started to say "I want a dog and a poop shovel".  Reese even started saying puppy a lot and will just blurt it out randomly!  It is driving josh nuts because i am getting on the band wagon and he doesn't want a dog!
